The studio in Sweden
In 1970 Gordon and Ulla Fazakerley bought a small farmhouse in Sweden, that became the families summerhouse. Here in the peaceful countryside and without modern comforts like phones, electricity or hot water, Gordon worked undisturbed on smaller water colours and drawings long into the bright summer evenings.
After Gordon’s death in 2011, Ulla only managed to visit the house a few times. The photos below were taken by Susan Fazakerley after Ulla’s death in 2019 to give an idea of the simpel life in the countryside, where Gordon was perhaps at his happiest.
